Chocolate Chip Brownies


Preheat oven to 350° F, grease 8x8x2-inch baking pan

Heat in a microwave safe bowl in microwave at HIGH (100%) for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes (or this can be done in a saucepan on the stove at medium heat), until mixture is bubbly:

6tablespoons butter
2/3cups dark brown sugar

Set aside till cool (this is a good time to chop your nuts if you are going to add them).

Add to butter/sugar mixture and stir well:

2beaten eggs
1teaspoon vanilla extract
1cup all-purpose flour
1teaspoon baking powder
1/4teaspoon salt

Stir in:

1/2cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
1/2cup chocolate chips

Pour into pan and spread evenly across bottom.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out almost clean.

Cool on wire rack. Cut when still slightly warm.

A 13x9x2 inch pan of brownies can be made by doubling all the above ingredients.
